The General Baker Institute Library is a community library and reading space building on the legacy of Detroit labor organizer General Gordon Baker Jr.’s lifelong work. Inspired by Baker’s co-founding of Detroit and Hamtramack’s respective Revolutionary Union Movements (RUMs) movement of the late 1960s, the GBIL is focused on Black labor knowledge centering labor forward and anticapitalist works to increase political education amongst working class Black Detroiters. GBIL is a hidden gem located on Detroit’s Westside in the Pilgrim Village neighborhood.

Ginger Ale Fruit Punch
1 1/2 quarts lemon juice
1 1/2 quarts orange juice
6 quarts water
4 pound sugar
1 quart pineapple juice
2 quarts ginger ale (add just before serving)
Blend in punch bowl with block of ice.
AMOUNT: 50 punch cups
Gladys Healy filed to dissolve her Husband with Fergus Healy, who was alleged to have committed adultery. The marriage was dissolved by Justice Lyon and the petitioner (Gladys Healy) was granted full custody of their children and child support.
GLAZED (mistyped "GLAXED") BACON
1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lbs Canadian bacon
1 1/2 cups apple juice
Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered 30 minutes per pound or until tender.
Preheat oven to 400°.
Mix together:
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons corn syrup
1 Tbsp. flour
Vinegar to moisten - 1 Tbsp. perhaps
Put bacon in baking pan. Glaze with above mixture. Bake about 30 min. or until glaze threads from a spoon. Remove from oven. As glaze cools, keep basting until it hardens. Serve hot or cold.

While neither the original Glazier log cabin or the house that followed it remain, their legacy is recognized by the street name Glazier Way.
