Japanese Horror Visual Aesthetics

Documentary Focus

Documentary Focus:

The purpose of the Japanese Horror Visual Aesthetics Archive is to highlight the rich history of Japanese Horror (J-Horror) films through the lenses of the genre's most famous film directors. Each film director brings their own brand of horror to their work and the archive showcases that diversity within the genre.  From Kinji Fukasaku’s famous gory delights to Takashi Shimizu’s folklore-inspired ghost spirits, Japanese branded horror has been dominating horror films for decades and the Archive seeks to trace that impact.
