Women, mothers, forgotten voices
Mothers organized in collectivities were conviniently represented by the revolutionary movement as only capable of pain. As Agudelo explains, “The idealization of the mother of the Sandinista soldier, which Borge proposes as a Mater Dolorosa, was dissociated from reality.” (p.86). When it came to representing the mothers, both Sandinista and Contra had a tacit agreement.
But, as De Volo points, political actions from the women organized as mothers and families was beyond any war project. These are some resources that explore the voices of the mothers in first person.
