A People’s Archive of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Michigan

Delta Tau Lambda Sorority, Inc.

The Delta Tau Lambda chapter at the University of Michigan was founded on April 2, 1994.

“Delta Tau Lambda Sorority, Inc. is a community-oriented sorority whose core objectives are academic excellence and community service. The organization was founded at the University of Michigan by two women of strength and integrity, Darilis Garcia McMillan and Maria Victoria Ramos, who sought to establish the first and only Latina-based sorority on campus. Their mission focused on building an organization that would bring greatness to the communities it served while working alongside women committed to professionalism and leadership. Delta Tau Lambda strives to support Latino communities and other communities of color, and a significant portion of the sorority’s work is dedicated to youth engagement because members believe that young people are the future and deserve strong role models. Since 1994, members have committed themselves to empowering and uplifting both the organization and their communities. The sorority is recognized across campuses and communities in the United States for its dedication, pride, and continued pursuit of excellence” (Delta Tau Lambda Sorority, Inc., n.d.).
