Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
In the year 1911, on the day of November 17, three undergraduates, Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper, and Frank Coleman, all banded together to found Omega Phi Psi Fraternity. The fraternity was founded in Howard College in Washington, D.C., with it having the claim to being the first international fraternity founded on a historical black college. Over a decade later, the local chapter at the University of Michigan was founded on January 1st, 1922.
The Greek letters that comprise its name translate to "Friendship is essential to the soul" and is the motto of the fraternity. Manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift were chosen as the fraternity's cardinal principles.
It is still active on campus to this day, with it having an active Instagram presence to market itself.
