500 Queer Scientists Visibility Campaign
This campaign aims to provide much needed visibility for LGBTQ+ people and their allies working in STEM fields. Containing self-submitted bios of queer STEM professionals, being able to see oneself already represented in the field is a powerful experience. Many of these bios include social media contact information for the purpose of networking and community building. In addition to the professional bios, 500 Queer Scientists sponsors a newsletter, a job board, and an events calendar.
Formerly known as the National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals, Out to Innovate works to empower queer-identifying STEM professionals as well as educate the general public on concerns important to the community. The organization provides networking opportunities, professional development and mentorship programs, scholarships, and more. Membership is maintained through dues, however various plans and discounts for certain groups makes Out to Innovate very affordable.
