Of my life has been spent in service for others, and in assuming their responsibilities and now when the man I love, the only man I ever did love or even care for, and the only man I ever shall love, when that man stands beside me and helps me along - I just feel that all things are possible - and not only possible, Earl darling, but so worth while. When I am absent from you, my love, I realize so keenly what it is that makes life itself worth while for me. And if in any way I can be an inspiration along your pathway our love will have borne its fruit. I never intended, dear, to be a mere friend.
