"Organization established in 1989 by University of Michigan librarians and information science professionals and students to promote awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues within the university libraries and School of Information. Prior names have been Gay and Lesbian Library Staff (GALLS), Gay and Lesbian Library Association (GALLA), and Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Library Association (BGALLA)."
First general manager of the Inter-Cooperative Council (ICC), the governing body of student cooperatives in Ann Arbor, Mich., who served the ICC for 34 years beginning in 1951. Buchele also helped to establish the North American Student Cooperative League (NASCL) and North American Student Cooperative Organization (NASCO). Before that he was active in the student cooperative movement on the University of Kansas campus.

This is a flier that was handed out by the Lavender Information and Library Association to spread the word about a new exhibit coming to the University of Michigan in 1999: “Articfacts and Disclosures: Michigan’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Heritage.” It was the first exhibit of its kind to show off transgender history specific to Michigan.
