for this ~reject? Who? What is the status of those requests?
No
2. It your project is continued, or expanded. describe the portions of the proposed project that are currently being implemented, and
describe how it 1s being expanded. if applicable.
On January 20, l97i the Motor City C~ltural Association
applied for a mini-grant
to
Michigan Cou~cil for the Arts to cover the costs of editing and reproducing two
hour-long
vi~eotapes
froQ the Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival
1973 as a pilot project.
These tapes -ould comprise one over-all
anthology featuring
artists
performing at the
F~stival,
a~d one anthology
of Detroit
Blues performers in action at the Festival.
If our re~esc
is granted,
~e will begin editing
these tapes as soon as we receive the
grant receipcs.
The expansion of the project

3. List any funding

project self-supporting
in
the future?
The project
will coritinue after the first year according to its reception by th~
acadeinic corr.er.unity and other target groups.
Interest
in and demand for the Festival
Videotapes
should continue to increase year by year once we are able to complete the
presentations
and make their existence
known. Also, the increasing
use of video as
an educational
tool should add to the demand for the Video Festival.
Since the tapes
would be made available
for the cost of copying and materials,
including a handling
charge to cover administrative
expnses, the project will be self-supporting
by its
very nature.

strongly

the

Their

coincides
with
a number
of the

In fact,
we are
planing
a summer

around
various
themes
pertaining
to Black

We
feel
