Rochester.
Sept 26. 1859
My dear Miss. Porter:
You kindly informed me when last at your house that the Ladies Antislavery Society had generously donated (in aid of the publication of my paper) me $100 besides the proceeds of the sale of goods sent from England for the same purpose. Of the one hundred doll.s you gave me a check (which I got cashed) for fifty dollars. I am now endeavoring to pay up many old scores on account of paper - rent, press work and printing, preparatory to leaving for England - and am much in want of all yourself and the Ladies Society have kindly donated me. I shall be very thankful to you and your coworkers, if you can let me have the same to day. Very truly and gratefully yours
