An excerpt from an illustrated pamphlet advertising the services and amenities available at The Battle Creek Sanitarium, including the Sanitarium's dietary plans.
This postcard contains a photograph of the annex dining room of the Battle Creek Sanitarium with a menu of the 1907 Michigan State Horticultural Society banquet printed below. The banquet was held at the sanitarium on December 4, 1907. Battle Creek Food Co. products served at the dinner include roast protose and NoKo. Protose was a meat substitute made from wheat gluten and peanuts. NoKo was a coffee substitute that purportedly avoided side effects of caffeine such as headaches, sleeplessness, and indigestion.
