Included is a draft essay and correspondence from the Harry Burns Hutchins Collegiate Professor Emeritus of Law at the University of Michigan and animal rights advocate Joseph Vining(1938-present). Vining has lectured and written in the fields of legal philosophy, administrative law, corporate law, comparative law, animal law, and criminal law, and has served on the University Committee for the Use and Care of Animals at the University of Michigan for three years. Below are professor Vining's self-donated essay and a series of correspondence obtained from the Bentley Historical Library.
